Wednesday, August 17 2005, 15:27:01 #28328 AMD Does anyone here run one of the dual cores by chance. I really need to do more homework on them. I like there numbers so far and people reviews.
Two X2 models will be based on the Manchester dual core with 512 kB L2 cache per core; two additional versions will make use of the Toledo design with 1 MB L2 cache per logical unit. While the mainstream Manchester models will fit within a thermal envelope of 95 Watts, the higher performing versions will require a maximum of 110 Watts, which should be easily provided by any motherboard capable of handling an Athlon 64 FX 55. While these numbers represent a bold requirement, we should not forget that Intel's top model reaches a whopping 130 Watts at 3.2 GHz, and its average power consumption is somewhat higher, too. Interesting is the "tie" with respect to the power consumed at the mainstream level, as both competitors are head to head at 95 Watts. This is vs extreme model p4. I think I like amd too much for some reason. I would like people to weigh in on this. Remember not the whole intle owns amd blows and you have no experience with amd. Let the debate begin. |

Wednesday, August 17 2005, 18:04:06 #28338 I've read a fair amount of reviews on the AMD duel core processors and everything I have read has been purely awesome. I have yet to read a poor review. Although, since this is basically the "top of the line" technology out right now I guess there is not much to compare it with.
I would google it and find some OC forums and have a read. |
