Ok so Norton AV was working fine until I did an update and now it's wanting to Activate and won't even run. A friend of mine suggested Avast (http://www.avast.com) in place of Norton. I decided to say what the hell and try it. So far it's pretty nice and does everything Norton does and it's free. There is also a pro version which is still cheaper then Norton. Has anyeone else tried this software?

Yeah I used avast for years. I used to use AVG but then I formatted and just forgot to install it. I came across avast by chance and have used it. It's pretty neat.

P.S. Psy, don't use Norton AV, it's crap. I had about 3 viruses once a couple of years ago, Norton didn't pick one of them up. Then again, AVG picked up all 3.

I'll check those ones out, thanks Wartex.

[edit]

I've heard it's bad to use two AV programs. Is that true?

First of all, you shouldn't have ANY antivirus that's resident because you deliberately gay your performance. So yes, you can have 2 as long as they don't run at the same time.

I'm using ClamWin and have been pretty happy with it. It is free, open source software.
