My PC speaker has been beeping latley out of the blue and I have no idea why

It beeps 2 short then a pause then 2 more short beeps I tried looking on google but I don't know the name or model of my mobo

Wartex do you remember the make and model by any chance?? Do you think its something serious??

the bios beeping would come from a small speaker on your mobo itself, not the speakers on your desk. Its something else.

Hey Iceman! It really depends what KIND your BIOS is. Find that out, go to manufactures homepage and find out what the beep codes mean. It might be overheating or something more serious. Either way, that's the way to go.

I looked and can't find the exact model

Here's my info:

Board: MSI MS-6547 2.00
Bus Clock: 133 megahertz
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. 07.00T 12/20/01

2.40 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4
8 kilobyte primary memory cache
512 kilobyte secondary memory cache

I was doing some quick searching and then thought... doesn't that mean that your cmos battery is going bye-bye? Has your clock been resetting?

When I was looking I actually found something similar to that as well but the clock and date are fine......at least it looks fine to me

This procedure could do the trick. Your BIOS version (date = 2001)
is very old. You might want to dowload:

It seems to have stopped, so I think for now I'll leave well enough alone Thanks for all your help guys and if it does it again I'll know what to do

2 short beeps or long beeps...it does depend on the MB manufacturer. 1 to 3 beats usally indicates a ram problem... do you have diffent clocking speed rams in you comp... if its four beeps then its hardware related...there is something in the POST boot up that is wacky..i would check your bios settings and make sure everythink is normal...But check your ram...make sure it regconizes the ram..you may have a chip that has chip creap(thernal expansion)...i dont remember exaclty what 4 beeps does//been a while since my a+ certs...but i know its hardware.. check your device manager and make sure there are no missing drivers for mouse and video card...etc..if you are running XP..NMI errors will effect boot up of comp.. system halt.. so if there is a driver missing...xp will load a default...but during the post..it may not know what it is......

i just rad up on beeps---4 peeps is a mother board malfunction... has to do with system clock of cpu...so..be warned if its four beeps...if its 2 and 2 then its a ram parity error...just so you know

Yeah it was 2 beeps then a short pause and 2 more beeps.....I wonder why it doesn't do it now? Maybe the trojans I have are compensating some how
