Ok so after that cool insite on the 805 Pentium D processor I think that's the processor I'm going with. I'm upgrading from a 2 gig celeron, 512 MB DDR 2100, 120 gig ATA 133 HD, FX5200 Vid Card, Onboard sound, on board netcard, DVD-R/W, DVD Drive. However I need help on what other stuff to get and what boards support that D processor at 4.2 gigs.

PROC:

Intel Pentium D 805 2.66GHz Processor

MOBO:

Giga-byte GA-8ANXP-D LGA-775 Intel 925 ATX Motherboard w/DSP

HDD:

I'm not sure if I'm going to get one yet. But what's hot out there?

You can't go wrong with a sound blaster if you have pwnage speakers.

Chipserts that support that CPU are listed in the article on Tomshardware, so just find a board with corresponding socket and that chipset.

Video: 7800 GTX or 1900 XTX (if you have money)

HDD: WD 2500 KS (get 2 in RAID 0) or one of the RE series. You can buy 2 74 gb Raptors or 1 150 GB Raptor X. (I'm actually selling mine, I got 2 250 GB drives - wd2500ks)

PSU: Antec or Enermax (preferably Antec)


PS: Gigabyte sucks. Get ASUS.
Sound blaster also sucks [massively], all of them. They have horrible drivers, ZERO driver updates, and the shittiest support. The latest X-Fi series have a problem with the driver that causes clicks and noise during playback and they know about it, and won't release the updated driver for almost a year to fix it.
