The democrats in the House managed to slide that cap and trade thing in last night. I doubt most people know much about it, if they're even aware of it (the top story that everyone is talking about is that a musician died).
I don't think its right for them to bury new important bills in a mountain of paper, intimidating any congressman that wishes to read it and understand it before they vote on it. You can take the simplest communication and stretch it with filler words and superfluous vocabulary almost infinitely.

Lol noderoom. I wanna learn more about politics, its interesting but I don't really know much about it (age 17). Someone wanna quickly explain what is meant by left-wing and right-wing? And labour and conservatism? (Or demo/repub for USA).

As I understand it, Liberalism and Conservatism are ideologies or political philosophies typically seen as opposites, though not all of the beliefs are necessarily exclusive.
Democrat and Republican are American political parties that attempt to organize support and win elections. Democrats are usually liberal, and Republicans are usually conservative, but not always. In fact, that is the subject of much debate and contention right now within the republican party, about where the core stands ideologically. The terms "left" and "right" pretty much just mean liberal and conservative, respectively.
This is a pretty simplified description, but liberalism is the side that says government should do more things for people, take care of more basic things in life, and typically corresponds with higher taxes. The emphasis is on equality and fairness.
Conservatism on the other hand tends to view government as a necessary evil, and wants to shrink it as much as possible. From this viewpoint, the government's job is mainly to protect the citizens with the "militia" and settle disputes and such. The emphasis is on freedom.

to give you a general idea what left and right is in USA:

Right:
- make abortions illegal
- make religion mandatory in schools
- teach creation rather than evolution in schools
- tax rich less and poor more
- no universal healthcare
- wage wars
- massive surveillance (a la UK)
- control the internet
- censor books
- fuck the planet, global warming is BS
- more oil

Left:
well, basically the opposite. Left is typically more progressive since Right wants to keep things "as is".
There are lunatics on each side but Right represents everything that is wrong with humanity - stupid, asinine, bible hugging, fat, lazy inbred redneck pedophiles.

This is the case in the UK anyway in both. They touch on evolution but the majority is the creation BS. Income tax is 40% on everything after 35k GBP (70k CAD, 57k USD). Simon Cowell paid 21.2m income tax in 2008, ridiculous. It should be a flat rate regardless of income.

Even when kids start wisening up around 13/14 they still ram creationism down your throats. It doesn't convince many though. I remember one outburst where one kid shouted at the highly-religious teacher "it's all fucking bollocks, fuck creationism and fuck your stupid BS subject" and walked out. I think he spoke on behalf of everyone
