pretty cool. I'd like another opinion on that pk4 decompression idea. Work well for you Rusky? Adverse affects...?

And I'm going to tweak the cachemegs setting tonight.

Oh well according to some people it all depends on your rig weather it works well or not. Seems that slower rigs it works better on than faster rigs, it also seems to make it load a hell of a lot longer

Easy, before you do anything rename the .pk4 files to .pk4_bak, then do what you want and if it doesn't work go back

I had one going and broke the 4 player limit, all you do is change si_maxplayers to whatever number and put it in a autoexec.cfg. It lags like hell though.

I played 20 hours straight without leaving the computer. I'm already past "hell" map. IT FUCKING OWNZ! I'm in CPU complex now.

Hey Rusky, I did the pk4 file extraction, and the cachemegs trick. Can't tell much of a difference. Damn!

What are your copmuter stats, it only helps if they are low

Win xp pro, p4 2gh, 768MB ram, gforce FX 5600 256MB ram, santa cruz turtle beach sound card. Doom3 won't recognize my sound card as being surround. Don't know if that matters or not, I've heard some people say that the sound card can affect game performance.

What do you think?

There is a setting that you have to change to make it recognize the surround sound. I have never heard of it decreasing performance. And from what I've been hearing it's not worth unpacking them, it only increases the loading time .
I will try to find how to enable surround sound
