We need to design a logo for DRC TV and Radio.
(if you believe we "don't need" and only Wartex "needs", or you are not a part of "we", please state so in this thread so I know)

All you need is a piece of paper and a pen. After you draw something, scan it or draw it in Paintbrush that you already have in your Windows and save on an account on DRC FTP or photobucket.com, post link here.

Winner will get Nostromo N52 gamepad,

I will send money via Paypal or cheque (for north America) or Western Union (for Eurasia). Money will not be taken out of DRC fund but will be my personal money (so we don't end up with bitching "Rareks" like last time).

Rules:


Judges: Wartex, Syntax, Death.

1) Logo must depict the one or all of the following:
DRC TV
Radio DRC
Unlagged TV
Radio Unlagged

And bear the theme of:
Audio streaming
Video streaming
Network
Internet
People
Music
Technology
Quake

2) Logo must be simple.
- No animation
- No shadows
- No glow
- No collages
- Digital version must be identical to printed version

3) No rips / derivative works.
- Different authors are not allowed to use shapes of other authors
- No copies from existing brands

4) 1 is not enough.
- If you draw 1 logo most likely it will fail

5) 4 (FOUR) colors MAXIMUM.
- No gradients.
- Must look decent in shades of gray
- Must retain shape in monochrome (2 colors - 100% black and 100% white)

6) Don't use chewed-out shit.
- No globes, antennae, 60's style TV sets, headphones etc - this is all so frequently used it will make your logo bleak.

7) Logo CAN contain letters.
- It can be as simple as "DRC Media" text.
- No built-in Windows or copyrighted fonts can be used, use free fonts only

8) Logo MUST NOT resemble the original DRC Logo.

I see alot symbols and what not, would a mascot be out of the question?

Not like an animal or some stupid crap like that, but an originally designed person/thing?

It wouldn't be the entire "logo" but basically the personification of the logo, ofcourse this would involve words being there around him, or possibly holding something...


by hold I mean, like a radio/boombox with our logo on it, the symbolic form of "DRC Radio" something along those lines.

This will work as long as you can redraw it 3000 times with different poses and it looks the same.

Make head a bit longer and narrower (hate VGCats style), and I want to see 5 fingers on hands and not 4.

Mykro, paste this in paintbrush

Go:

1) File > Save As > Monochrome Bitmap
2) See how it looks like.

Now take this image:

Speaker outline is used in millions of logos of diffenrent audio equipment companies. Why it doesn't cut it:

1) This is the most unoriginal idea one can come up with.
2) How does it symbolize gaming, radio or audio streaming?

I'm doing manga style, not toon style, so no worries about the anatomy matching ours.

but sorry to disappoint you, it will be a good logo for a media player, but not for a radio station - triangle in a cicrle of logo is used by Windows Media Player, and smells like Adidas.

Check out this shape I made with polygon lasso... somebody probably already has it. Looks kinda cool though, too bad is has nothing to do with anything.



Ok, so I'm pulling an all nighter to study for uber-mirco-economics final, but somehow I ended up in photoshop. I'm trying to come up with something for media that hasn't been done too much, but am not comming up with much. Wartex, what do you think about a logo that somehow resembles a star topology? Idea being drc is broadcasting media to the nodes.

Star topology sounds like a good idea, except DRC is a full mesh.

Remember, the logo will be an overlay in the corner of a 320x240 pixel frame, so the size of it will be probably 16x20 pixels. Resize your logo to 16x20 and see if it looks the same

On the last one, I tried to use the network theme. All of the other network themed stuff I came up with was just way too busy.

nice effect when you don't look at the wave it appears much faster because our eyes have a much better recognition of brightness at the sides

Not at all bro Thats why I posted to try throw some more ideas out there that could be used. IMO working on something together as a team is better than working on it alone.

Well i hope this is still going on and sorry it took so long but ive been busy with wedding stuff. I liked the DRC Media example and did one logo with that then i started to think what other words would work so i came up with these:
