I can't double-click Winamp files, because nothing happens.
I can't click links in MSN, because no internet window shows up.
I can't check my email by clicking the envelope in MSN, because no internet window shows up.

... And I haven't done ANYTHING!!!!!!

First, are you POSITIVE that you do not have a virus??? If you are not sure, go to http://www.trendmicro.com and look for link to FREE ON-LINE SCAN. Scan your computer.

Restart your computer... try double-clicking Winamp file now. Work?? If no, follow steps below.

First action:
RIGHT-click on a Winamp file and click on 'Open With'
Scroll through list and select an audio program... like Winamp.
Did it play?? If not, follow steps below.

Second action:
To verify proper 'file association':
Find a Winamp file and see what the extension is. [The 'extension' is made up of the 3 letters to the RIGHT of the period.] Could be MP3, AUD, etc Remember what the extension is!

Open Windows Explorer. Click Tools, then Folder Options.
Click on File Types tab.
SCROLL until you see the 3-letter extension. The program used to open/play that type of file is listed on the right. It should say winamp.exe or whatever the executable file is to start winamp. If it doesn't, let me know and we will set file association.

The above is based on Win 2000... different OS may have slightly different menu choices... modify accordingly!

If it worked before, obviously something DID change.

Let me know if above steps resolved Winamp problem. We'll work on other problems next.

Will check virus thingy.

As for winamp ... Ya it works if I right click and "Open with", but I don't want to do that.
Already checked file extensions stuff, it's all as usual. Just decided not to work. Sad

EDIT: Can't find "Free online scan" on that website.

Step 1: Trash Windows.
Step 2: Get linux.
Step 3: Enjoy life without constantly worrying about viruses, worms, trojans, etc.
Step 4: Laugh at people who have to worry about viruses, worms, trojans, etc. Smile

There's a point sometimes where you just have to call upon the windows restore point - you may be getting there.
