Hey guys,

I've never really used any firewalls per say I've always just relied on the router as a firewall but want to test some stuff out and was wondering what are some good *free* firewalls out there? Please don't just do a search on google I'd like to know if you have used it or not. Below are some I found but none of them look that great.

- Zone Alarm
- Norton Personal Firewall
- Sygate Personal Firewall
- Kerio Personal Firewall
- Outpost Firewall from Agnitum
- Deerfield personal Firewall
- Tiny Personal Firewall
- Black Ice Defender

im using a sw firewall on my non gaming box. im using the winslows sp2 one rite now ans it seems to work fine. zone alarm works but is sorta faggy. ive heard Outpost Firewall from Agnitum is good but never tried it.

If you want a kick ass free firewall I say get Kerio I haven't seen Black Ice in action, but I've heard its really awesome if your going to buy one

P.S. If you know where I can my paws on Black Ice for free please let me know

I tried Norton but found it lagged my system quite abit, so I dumped it. I'm now using the trial version of Kaspersky and so far I love it, and will no doubt buy it

Norton lags, ZoneAlarm is as configurable as a horseshoe, and blackice is half-assed software. Kerio is da shit.

PS: Iceman we have BlackIce on every computer at work, it's just enterprise edition is called something else. And we do still have worms send out emails with the worm body from some machines.

I thought BlackIce was firewall software though? I didn't think it anti-virus as well or am I wrong?.....It wouldn't be the first time

Thanks for the recommendations guys. I install Kerio and it's awesome. I had tried it in the past on a older version and didn't like it but this new one kicks major ass .
