I was on my refrigeration forum (http://www.refrigeration-engineer.com/forums/) and saw that they had a google map setup where members can post where they live. This is pretty neat but I did notice is pretty laggy for a large number and was built for VBulletin (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=99920). Don't have time right now to look more indepth into it, but this looks pretty neat. Maybe some implimentation? I'll read up and see if/how we could..

Ok that's cool. Just wondering because it looked pretty neat. So does yours also use google map engine in some way?? I guess I'm just curious how it works. May I see your code?

It uses a huge static map of the globe.

Hm.. and you just catorigize a map (not google's) by Longatude and Latitude?

It's basically "approximate". Of course Google's is much more powerful, but what stops them from yanking the service one day and making it for-fee?
