Saturday, July 19 2008, 23:12:50 #41015 How to prevent Skype from becoming a supernode If you are direclty connected to the internet (i.e. you have external IP on your PC's network card, NOT behind a router), skype will use your connection to route other people's traffic. This will heavily load your network and CPU. To stop this, do the following:
Exit Skype. Create a file called "nosuper.reg" and paste the following into it using notepad:
Save the file and then double-click on it, you will be asked if you want to add this to your registry. Click OK/Yes and restart the computer. |

Sunday, July 20 2008, 05:25:19 #41016 nice info! For what skype versions does it do?
btw, I didn't know about skype being so barefaced to abuse your bandwidth!!! (is that also the case when it reads during a file transfer: "relayed"?) |

Sunday, July 20 2008, 20:17:48 #41017 I think starting from 3.0. When you do the file transfer and it's relayed, means it's using somebody else's bandwidth. If you are a supernode, other calls and files will be relayed via your connection.
