Saturday, October 31 2009, 20:18:35 #42669 Question about FireWire? Never even heard of this before today. I'm looking into getting an audio interface so I can record music to my laptop. USB ones exist but they're not the kinda quality I'm looking for really. If I was to buy a FireWire one and get a FireWire-USB adaptor would it record at the speed of FireWire or USB?
Kinda confusing I know but someone may know something about it |

Saturday, October 31 2009, 20:32:04 #42673 wow, welcome to Earth. Firewire is like a bazillion years old.
USB 2.0 is 480 mbit/s USB3 is 3200 mbit/s FireWire aka FW400 is 400 mbit/s FW800 and FW1600 are ... you guessed it. There is no USB to FW adapter. There is a PCI host adapter with FW ports. It's pretty much obsolete, there are tons of quality USB ADCs. Most DV cameras come with firewire and it's an Apple creation. _________________
