Anyone here into RC Cars? I have some friends that have been trying to get me into it. I was recommended this model HPI R40 around $240 or so on Ebay. Does anyone know about these cars?

One of my friends has and he says it's a pretty good and solid car. HPI R40

The other one has this one Team Associated NTC3

When I was 15 I was really into them. Mine were all off-road 2wd electric. Dumped tons of $ into it, or at least at the time it felt like tons of money.

I had an RC10 (associated) with a graphite chasis, about $200 worth of pushed and matched battery cells, all the high end steering components and a bunch of motors. At the time Team Associated was the shit, all the top racers ran RC10's. I don't know if their still considered the best or not.

It's one of those things I would love to pick back up but it can be a real money hog if you start getting lots of parts. Its not uncommon for a big setup to have $2k + sunk into it. If you get a car I'd like to see it.

Make sure you have a 2 speed tranny and good exhaust. Make sure igniter has a good battery also"starter."

Also make sure you have foam in the tires and use a good good adhesive for plastic to keep the tires on the rims.

Also a gallon jub of blue fuel with a metal fill nozzle works dope too.

Air filters are key also.

I will do it witht the real thing thank you very much. Theres no risk factor. No personal injury possibly involved. Its cool to watch or see a kid do, but I prefer a real car.

I got a RC for x-mas one year (many moons ago), and it could lay a strip of rubber almost 2 feet long. However it didn't last long because before the first set of batteries were even dead on x-mas day I took it outside and tried to race up the neighbours looooonnnnngggg driveway but the contoler was VERY sensitive and the driveway VERY narrow. Hence it ended up submersed in 3 feet of water for a few minutes until I could get it out. That was the only RC my parents ever bought me and I can't say I blame them either because it was around $250 back in the early 80's.
