Wednesday, December 29 2004, 16:52:35 #19354 shit car My gf's car is fucked up, so now I have to try and fix it. Does anyone know of a website where I could find engine diagrams or anything of use? I will also probably be buying parts online, anyone know of good sites? It's a 1988 VW Scirocco 16v Also, what are your opinions on ductape? Bad Idea? The car cost less than a $1000, I am seriously considering it. |

Wednesday, December 29 2004, 17:16:00 #19356 My dad is a mechanic (one of the best in town), If you post all the problems or even pictures of what happened I could have him read this when he gets off work tonight.

Wednesday, December 29 2004, 18:52:23 #19365 Oh vw eh. If its the clip from the engine bay harness you will have to go to a junk yard and get the clip with some of the wire left. Remember the wire colors and stripes so you will know what clip it is. Then you shoul dsplice the wires you can butt connect them but I would solder them personally. If its a 16v vw with cis injection I should have the manual. If you cannot find a clip for it you can use fenale wire connectors if you can find the proper size. Another note on 16v's, check the the distributor"should be on right side on the end of cam. If there is oil cryd there do not remove it. This can cause dist rotor to move with cam and cause car to back fire and slightly mis-align rotor from making spark in the cap. If you have anymore questions let me know. I was big in vw's in high school. I have only owned about 6 of them. 2 16v, rabbit gti, jetta gli, 8v gti and a 99 tdi.
If it is a vaccum connector"hense the t fitting" Any local parts store will have it. Its like a $1.00 part. This is part of your emissions system. I will need a in depth account of what the car does. If its a vac leak they are hard to trace but you can always replace all vac lines. Cost maybe 10 bucks. |

Wednesday, December 29 2004, 21:33:25 #19372 It's a cooling hose that busted. I tried to take picks, but the dam thing is under so much shit you couldn't see it. I guess I will just try and replace that. Here is what I found online, this has to be it.

Wednesday, December 29 2004, 21:54:54 #19376 Remember older vw's do like to be at idle at all. They can hit temps of like 230-250 at idle. If there are any other probs let me know. Her car is awesome. I know a kid who has a turbo one with a 16v platform. It rips ass.

Was the car overheating before the hose went?????? I don't think so. She was driving then all of a sudden smoke was flying out from the hood(hose must have burst and shot coolant all over the engine) Yah, I don't know about a 10 minute job. Her bucket also has a bad wheel bearing in the front. When she goes over 50 it sounds like a 747. I have heard that can be dificult to fix for a car noob like myself. Anyone ever done it? |

What is the car doing????? Everytime I try to use my turn signal, some warning arrow blinks on my speedo cluster. Does it mean I'm low on blinker fluid? I would have it checked out but I googled it and from what it seems, it's an expensive fix! |

Monday, January 10 2005, 01:17:09 #19970 Yes you need light weght blinker fluid you fucking asshole. Technically there is a fluid in the connector of the bulb you prick. It prevents rust on bulbs so they do not get stuck in connectors. What up now nooblet, cars come with it from factory.
