How would I go about making a skin? I like your ideas and a DRC one would be cool.

well i dunno how ur supposed to do it i probably did it wrong, i just had the spiderman one some guy made i changed the pk3 extension to zip, extracted the files out of it, converted the tga files to jpg, used paintbrush (LOL) to paint over spiderman, converted them back to tga zipped it back up, renamed to pk3 again and placed it back in base3q folder

its very easy actually. i used to edit q3 a lot but to prep it takes a while. you have to use winrar or something to unzip your pak0.pk3 from ur baseq3 into another folder so u can edit it like a folder. Once thats done, it should take a while the paks huge, nagivage through to the player skins. Open one up in say photoshop as a base for your skin, and edit away.

don't you have to have the same color palatte or something though

No it's for Quake 2 only. Quake 3 uses 24-bit color TGA or 32 bit color TGA if there is an alpha channel (transparency), or JPG. They have the same palette.
