Sunday, April 6 2008, 14:04:57 #40895 System melt down! So my computer has slowly become less useable the last few weeks. I keep scanning for viruses but it comes up with nothing. Ran spybot and still nothing. What's wierd about this is some how I've lost internet access.
It seems like the network has been messed with but I'm not even sure where to start. When I go do an ipconfig everything looks ok. However when I ping anything some how I get the same response back with any DNS address see below: C:\Documents and Settings\_>ping www.google.com
Pinging www.google.com [192.168.1.1] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64 Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64 Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64 Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64 C:\Documents and Settings\_>ping a.b.c Pinging a.b.c [192.168.1.1] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64 Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64 Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64 Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64 C:\Documents and Settings\_>ping 192.168.1.1 Pinging 192.168.1.1 with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64 Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64 Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64 Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64 It almost seems like a worm, but again I can't find anything relating to this on the web. Another wierd thing that happened was one of my partitions on my 120 gig drive after a reboot says that it's not formatted do you want to format now. Now this drive was already formatted with very important stuff on it. This is actually the second time it's done this. But after I reformatted it from last time everything seemed to be running ok. Is there anyway to recover this data? Again it's unreplaceable and isn't even my stuff it was someone I was fixing a computer for and backed it up to my drive. Help! _________________ psycheus.com tacnit.com |

Sunday, April 6 2008, 15:16:06 #40897 Well I was able to recover the data off the other hard drive. And I stand corrected. The HD I was having trouble with wasn't the 120 giger it was another 40 gig drive and I got how I partition it mixed up. I starting searching the simptoms and found this free ware for checking out the HD tables, which I found to be my problem. The software I found is free and worked great. It's called TestDisk and you can download it here, http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Download. Now I'm just trying to back everything up and switch over to my new computer.
