I can't say this is an original idea, but I don't see why we can't do it as well. I will explain...

Recentley I have been intoduced to mIRC, and turns out that a lot of channels are actual communities. I was poking around, and got introduced to this channel that has a website/forum, radio streaming, and of course the channel where everyone hangs out. Its pretty cool actually, and got to thinking that we should have something similar, but it would require people's participation.

These guys actualy have a schedule on their home page of who will be the DJ and the different times. I am not sure how they do it, but it seems they log into mIRC somehow that gives you special permissions to take over the stream.

Basically the DJ changes every 2 hours. They have html playlists generated and uploaded so all you do in mIRC is type .wish (name of song etc) that is on their playlist and they put it in cue for you.....when the 2 hours is up the next person gets the requests forwarded to them somehow and they continue on.

Its pretty cool though, as each person has their own personallity and raises hell.....telling jokes now and then or making random comments etc;

I was thinking we should set something similar up.....but first we would have to find out how they pass the stream around via mIRC or however they do it. I could set up a schedule if I knew when everyone was available, and we could all take turns at being a DJ

The thing is it would require everyone to pitch in and take part because it can't happen with a couple of people......it would take the majority of us to keep it up and running. At night we could just let the radio go if we wanted, or shut it down......what ever we want to do.

Just thrashing around some ideas......but in the end we need participation or nothing will happen.

Ideas? Thoughts?

If you think about it, 2 hours is a pretty long time just to listen to music. I think 1 hr would be better.

Thats why we need everyones participation if we were to attempt something like this. If only a few people are interested it puts the weight on those few peoples shoulders, and it will fail. Its one of those things....its all or nothing.

DEDICATION...

Asking people for 2 hours of time to be a DJ is a great idea, however, participation, a personality, an idea or two, and time...

Unfortunaltely I don't have the time nor the know how - I would listen, when I could, primarily for the chuckles...

I would stay on voicechat to learn - educationally it would be a very good learning experience - however, it still goes back to having the neccessary time that, in my opinion, would be required to make the experience enjoyable for the intended listeners.

Currently I cherish my excess time... and I am sure I am not a DJ type of personality...

British pride I didn't want no avatar so I was thinking of something more unique. I was thinking of British history and I thought about putting Winston Churchill avatar but it seemed kinda gay (as much as I admire him) so I went with the flag.

I know someone that could probably help me get the info we need to set one up, but there is no point if only 2 or 3 people are interested.

I think it would work better on mIRC just due to the massive audience we could have! Thats where the one is that I listen to now and then and there are always a lot of people in channel.

We could do up a schedule a month in advance so we know who is suppose to be operating it etc; ...............BUT............we need people who WILL actually do it.

I can find out the info we need but I need some kind of commitment first.

So we have 3 people........maybe 4........no where near enough people. We would need to schedule people in 2 hour incriments so that everyone could have a life lol............we need a shit load of people.......like almost the entire membership or else there is no point.

I have a large collection of Drum and Bass and Dubstep on both vinyl and digital. This weekend was a few sweet shows.

The turkey neck oh shit son. Weez up in this bitch. I would have to play the metal maybe even 80's shit. The best thing to do is set the play list on a server or make then ahead of time or pick from it. If you can compile the tunes your set.

Ryxan it's all been set up and is ready to go. I will show you how to do it. I will set up a "channel" file where you can add your stream.
